On this Christmas Eve I want to write a few lines directing you to some powerful debates where the error of the trinity is exposed and the truth of One God (the Mighty God in Christ) is ably defended and presented. Enjoy!
From Apostolic Network Ministries:
Gordon Magee v. W.L. Toddy (March 1960)
Hicks v. Billingsly
Hicks v. Weaver
Hicks v. Woods
Bayer v. Jackson
Bayer v. Welch
From Apostoliclive.com:
David K. Bernard v. Gene Cook
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
Part 7
Part 8
Part 9
Part 10
Part 11
Part 12
Part 13
I only recently found the last 6 of Bro. Bernard's debate recently. Mega Kudos to the guy who posted them on youtube originally.

I attended the debate between Mr. Guy N. Woods (Church of Christ minister) and Mr. marvin Hicks (UPC minister). Mr. Hicks is a good speaker but Mr. Woods clearly was more advanced in his skillful use of logic and bible truths. Mr. Woods presented the truth in a clear cut manner. Mr. Woods has passed away since then as well as Mr. Ramsey (another Church of Christ minister) that debated Hicks. I find that most of the UPC people are extremely kind and sincere but that religion originated amongst poverty stricken an undecuated people. The whole system is built upon sheer emotionalism.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your blog.

Ray,
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed being at that debate with you that day.
I appreciate your kind words, and that's the nicest I've ever seen anyone call an entire group of people "a bunch of redneck hillbillies," but your words remind me that there were others called "unlearned and ignorant men." I'm glad to be part of that company because their naysayers "marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13). ;)
I'm glad you enjoyed the blog.
Be Well!
Ray,
ReplyDeleteThe early church did not, nor does the majority of it today probably, consist of affluent people. I did not realize, though, that affluency was a standard for Bible doctrine. The disciples were woefully unedcuated, but they were chosen by the Mighty God in Christ. I could not help but notice too, that you made at least a couple grammar or spelling errors. Have you examined your doctrine lately?
I leave you with these words from the Apostle Paul.
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-- that, as it is written, He who glories, let him glory in the LORD. (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NKJV)
Great find. Thanks! BTW, I have enjoyed reading your blog on several occasions. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings! I also attended the debate between Guy N. Woods and Marvin Hicks and would like to merely point out a few things. First of all, Mr. Woods was not only a preacher, skillful debater, but also a lawyer. Debates are generally good; however, at times, one debater may be so much more intelligent and have so much more experience that the "other" debater really doesn't have a chance. We must always make sure that debates are between intellectual equals. The church of Christ is and will always be the toughest opponent in a debate, but that is good: at least they will publically defend their teachings, and their debates will be on a high plane. They will seldom be rude or dishonorable to an opponent. One becomes better, more skillful, by debating the best. The UPC does not need to waste its time debating people who do not "know their head from a hole in the ground" such as Baptists, Methodists, or Presbyterians. The church of Christ, however, is different (as one who hears the Woods-Hicks debate will see). My best wishes to you, and congratulations on an excellent website.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. Hopefully, now that I've finally fixed the links, people will see what you were writing about.

I didn't watch the videos, but I don't need to. Scripture clearly teaches a plurality of persons in God. To deny this is to deny Scripture.
ReplyDeleteGood day.
The problem with your comment is that there is not one place from Genesis to Revelation or God is ever referred to with the term, persons.
DeleteClick on my name in this comment, if you'd like to see what the Bible really teaches.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, no, no I didn't copy your blog layout. I just happen to have a similar one. :)
Feel free to leave a comment on my blog to let me know what you think.
Willing Catholic Martyr,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. It's obvious that you not only refuse to watch the videos, but you are also willingly ignorant concerning the Biblical teaching about God.
The Word of God clearly identifies One God with many attributes including the one person of Jesus Christ.
There is only one person in God.
Be Well!
WillingCatholicMartyr, since you don't need videos, then could you cite ONE verse of Scripture that refernces God, the Holy Spirit, or Christ with a plural hypostasis (Grk. Sing. Eng:person). I wrote about this at my blog. It is actually a response to CARM's Matt Slick but is relevant nonetheless.
